The Hard Question: view answers or respond

“Are women not willing to make the sacrifice for executive leadership and walking away?"

The prevailing writing around the topic of women in leadership is about the need for organisations to commit to great gender diversity and consciously drive more women into senior leadership roles.

Most would argue (as do many women) that the better approach is to base promotion on metirocracy. Many organisations would argue that they currently take this approach.

So, maybe there are only small numbers of women in leadership positions…because they don’t want to be there! Perhaps women are opting for better lifestyle and family time. Or preferring to start their own businesses and control their earnings as well as their time (there is some evidence to support this).

What do you think?
